Outreach in Modern Languages

Warmest thanks to two final-year students Beth Marshall (English and Spanish) and Nicoletta Charalambous (French and Spanish), who have been delivering a 30-minute “Why Study Languages?” session in schools for pupils about to choose their GCSE options, telling their own language “story”, running a 5 minute taster in a lesser known school language (Portuguese) and an interactive game. Beth and Nicoletta have delivered sessions in ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and have some scheduled in Long Eaton later this month. Last week they spent most of the day in a Chesterfield school, presenting to the whole of Year 9. They also did an impromptu Q & A with Year 11 and had a chat with two A-level students about languages at university.
