Familiarise yourself with the Student Code of Conduct (Non-Academic)

Wednesday, 05 August 2026
Changes to the Student Code of Conduct came into effect on Saturday 1 August 2026. All students are responsible for familiarising themselves with the code.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is committed to fostering an environment that values all members of the university community, and engenders inclusivity, fairness, and respect. The Student Code of Conduct (Non-Academic) exists to help preserve those values and to provide a framework for addressing behaviour that does not align with them.

University Senate recently approved amendments to the code of conduct to add clarity to each section, providing the flexibility to respond to reports while accounting for their potential complexity or associated risks. You are responsible for familiarising yourself with the code.

The amendments comprise:

Clarity on who the decision-makers are at the end of the investigative processes, and the sanctions that they can impose

Examples of non-academic misconduct (such as failing to declare criminal convictions when required to do so) incorporated within the main body of the code

Streamlining the appeals process to align more closely with the expectations of the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education

Explicit distinction between the rights of the responding student to appeal the outcome, and the rights of reporting students to complain about the process

Clarity on how the code of conduct interacts with criminal processes, Support to Study and/or Fitness to Practice procedures

If you – or someone you know – have witnessed behaviour that has made you uncomfortable, you can disclose it using our . Disclosures can be made anonymously, or you can provide your contact details. By making a disclosure you will get access to support and guidance on your formal reporting options. Making a disclosure made does not automatically result in an investigation process being undertaken.
