2021 Leverhulme Lecture Series

A short online course in neuroeconomics by Professor Giorgio Coricelli, Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professor, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, and Professor of Economics and Psychology, University of Southern California

Lecture 1: The computation of value in economic choice – 4 May 2021, 16:00-17:30

Lecture 2: Value learning through reinforcement: the basic of dopamine and reinforcement learning – 11 May 2021, 16:00-17:30

Lecture 3: Strategizing and attention in games –  17 May 2021,  16:00-17:30

The main goals of the lectures are:

  • to learn about the academic field of neuroeconomics, its major theories, and debates;
  • become a critical consumer of research findings by learning the methodological standards for evaluating the soundness of such studies; 
  • acquire some practical skills for designing and analysing an experiment in the field of neuroeconomics.

The lectures will focus on neuroscience as a new lens on decision-making. We will focus primarily on studies of the neural basis of human behaviour.  This will include a special focus on the reward system, reinforcement learning, social preferences, and strategic choice.
