Biography

Catrin is a registered nurse, social scientist and Professor of Evidence Based Healthcare within the School of Health Sciences. Catrin worked as a nurse and as a research consultant in various international settings before joining the 乐播传媒 in 2003. Catrin's clinical and research interests lie in maternal/women's health, with a particular interest in the digital transformation of healthcare and its intersection with health equity. She also undertakes research related to health professional education and the development of advanced practice roles in diverse contexts. Catrin is primarily a qualitative researcher and a specialist in evidence synthesis (with particular expertise in qualitative and realist review approaches).

Catrin is a member of the School of Health Science's Child, Maternal and Family Health Research Group and is also co-Director of the 乐播传媒 Centre for Evidence Based Healthcare (a Centre of Excellence within the global evidence network). Catrin contributes to the development of evidence synthesis methodology through elected membership of two international evidence synthesis methods groups: the JBI Scoping Review Methodology Group and the JBI Qualitative Review Methodology Group (which she Chairs). She is a member of JBI's Scientific Committee and is also an Associate Editor of the JBI Evidence Synthesis Journal and Editorial Board member of the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology.

Catrin is an enthusiastic and experienced educator, teaching across a range of undergraduate, MSc and doctoral programmes. She is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and has twice received a 乐播传媒 Lord Dearing Award for Teaching Excellence. Catrin has held many senior leadership roles in the School and Faculty. She is currently Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange in the School of Health Sciences, and Faculty Lead for the UoA3 REF submission.

Current Research

Catrin is an experienced Principal Investigator and has received grant funding from a range of external bodies including NIHR, The Burdett Trust for Nursing, ESRC, WHO, EPSRC, DFID, HEE, UKISA, Health Education England and Public Health England. She has published widely.

Catrin's current studies focus on the implementation of digital systems within maternity care with a specific focus on their intersection with health equity and person-centred care. Catrin is also involved in projects related to care provision for women who are FGM survivors. In addition, Catrin acts as methodological lead for a range of evidence synthesis projects. In collaboration with the JBI Qualitative Methods Group, Catrin is also leading methodological projects exploring approaches for enhancing sensitivity to equity, diversity and inclusion within qualitative evidence synthesis.
