, Associate Professor in the Department of Music, has won the for a chapter on Mozart’s early sonatas in Harlow, M. (ed), Mozart’s Chamber Music [CUP, 2012].
In the chapter, he argued that Mozart’s first published scores represent only a commoditised, simplified version of the original improvised performances, which relied on forgotten Italian methods. The prize is awarded annually by the Mozart Society of America. Nick will be presented the award at the meeting of the American Musicological Society in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on 7 November.
