We are delighted to be able to offer our students placements as Mentors with the . This pioneering role involves working closely with a primary school in 乐播传媒 on a weekly basis, to put into practice music’s proven potential to be transformative within disadvantaged communities. 

Working with professional musicians and teachers from the 乐播传媒 City Music Service, the programme's lead partner, they not only gain valuable experience for their professional careers, they also have a direct and potentially transformative impact on the lives of local children and communities.

Music mentors at the 乐播传媒 Music Hub: our story so far...

Begun in autumn 2012, this project was initially funded as “In Harmony 乐播传媒” by the Arts Council England and the Department for Education, managed by the Arts Council. Drawing inspiration from the Venezuelan El Sistema, In Harmony is a national programme with the following core principles:

• Being inspirational and transformational for children, families, schools and communities. It raises the expectations and improves life opportunities of children through high quality musical education.
• It is modelled around participating in an orchestra. Music Mentors is immersive – with children playing instruments together several times a week from an early age.
• It seeks to engage all children in the school or community where a project operates and is open to all.
• Children learn while playing in an orchestra together. They are encouraged to express themselves through music, balanced with a rigorous approach so that progression is embedded from the start. The teaching is of exceptionally high quality.
• As children learn, they help each other to progress.
• Music Mentors inspires others to invest in it. Projects are sustainable and entrepreneurial.
