Adeel Ikram

"I am an Academic Clinical Lecturer and Specialty Registrar in Trauma & Orthopaedics. I hold a PhD in musculoskeletal phenotyping in patients with fragility hip fracture. My clinical and research interests span frailty, trauma, and soft tissue knee injuries. I also serve as Co-Lead for Early Career Researchers in the Academic Unit of Injury Recovery and Inflammation Sciences at the 乐播传媒.

My current research concentrates on two areas:

1. Fragility fractures, musculoskeletal phenotyping and post operative outcomes in older adults following trauma.
   Studies include linking inflammatory biomarkers to mortality and mechanistic work on muscle mRNA signatures and frailty resilience. This work seeks to deepen our understanding of the biological mechanisms underpinning frailty and to identify potential targets for intervention.
2. The use of artificial intelligence for the early detection of soft tissue knee injuries.
   This project aims to evaluate human reader performance and develop Artificial Intelligence in the interpretation of radiographs for knee injuries. The aim to enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve patient satisfaction, and streamline prioritisation for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Ultimately improving patient pathways and access to early treatment.

Together, these research areas reflect my commitment to advancing the care of older adults with trauma as well as individuals with knee injuries."
