Science Professor takes Chair at the table of One ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½

Professor Kevin Shakesheff, Pro-Vice Chancellor for the Faculty of Science at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has been elected as new Chair for

One ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is the strategic partnership for the city that encourages and facilitates collaboration across ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, bringing together the public, business, faith, voluntary and community sectors.

One ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ supports, or has facilitated a number of initiatives, organise events and develop projects. These include: the Young Creative Awards, NUSIC, Small Steps Big Changes, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ City of Football, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Carnival, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Awards and the Festival of Science and Curiosity.

Shared vision

Professor Shakesheff will be helping the University play its role in promoting ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ as a leading city for research, teaching, culture and job creation. He will be leading One ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ through coming months as it reviews its plans and partnership arrangements.

I am delighted to be taking this position, One ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s vision is very much aligned to the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s and through working with them on the Festival of Science and Curiosity I have seen the positive impact their work can bring to the city. I am keen to lead the partnership through a period of potential change and help develop their work to reach further and have greater impact.
