Research Summary

Tailored skincare enabled by mass spectrometry

Supervisors: Dr David Scurr /pharmacy/people/david.scurr, Morgan Alexander /pharmacy/people/morgan.alexander, Rian Griffiths /pharmacy/people/rian.griffiths

My research is focused upon looking at the permeation of skincare products through the outermost layer of the epidermis, the stratum corneum, using in-vivo human tissues samples. Permeation will be explored using ToF-SIMS and Orbi-SIMS to visualise the changes in skin composition across different ethnicities, genders, and ages, with the hopes of developing better skincare formulations.
