Research Associate: Polymer chemistry and clinical translation,
Karina is a Research Associate in Polymer Chemistry and Clinical Translation at the School of Pharmacy, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½. With a background in Chemistry (BSc) and Medical Sciences (MSc), she is enthusiastic about multidisciplinary research aimed at advancing healthcare solutions. Karina recently completed her PhD in Pharmacy at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, where her thesis "Development of Anti-Biofilm Polymer Coatings for Neonatal Feeding Tubes" focused on combating medical device-associated infections in vulnerable infants.
Currently, she is part of a collaborative project developing a wireless, real-time monitoring system designed to non-invasively track the body's response to implanted devices, using glucose sensors as a proof of concept. Her research interests include polymer chemistry, biomaterials, microbiology, biofilms, and mass spectrometry.
