ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ DH Lawrence PhD Student wins prestigious Fellowship

School of English current PhD student has won a highly sought-after fellowship to attend the prestigious . This year’s conference will be held at Gargnano, Lake Garda, northern Italy in late June. This major conference is organised by the D. H. Lawrence Society of North America; the last one was held in Sydney in 2011. Annalise competed with PhD students from around the world to win her Fellowship. She is delivering a paper at the conference on Lawrence's early work as a reviewer, entitled 'That'll help perhaps to advertise me': Lawrence's 'The Georgian Renaissance' review in Rhythm'.

Of this fabulous achievement, Annalise said: "I'm delighted to be awarded the opportunity to meet so many international Lawrence experts at an early stage in my research; their feedback on my paper, and gaining new insights into the most current research in the field, will help to shape my thesis. The Fellowship offers a unique chance to visit one of the places that meant a great deal to Lawrence and which stimulated his creativity as a newly professional writer." Dr Andrew Harrison, who is one of Annalise's supervisors in the School of English, expressed delight at her success: "Annalise is an outstanding student who has contributed a great deal to the activities of the School's D. H. Lawrence's Research Centre over the past two years. This is a fitting acknowledgement of her abilities and all her hard work."

Annalise is currently in the first year of her PhD studies, writing a thesis on Lawrence's early writings and the literary marketplace. She has already read a paper at a conference on Katherine Mansfield at Birkbeck, University of London, in November 2013.
