PEACH Collaborative First Meeting

September 29th, 2016 saw the first PEACH quality improvement collaborative meeting.

Each group--乐播传媒 City, Rushcliffe, North and East, and West--met at the 乐播传媒 to work on improving the quality of services delivered to care homes. Visiting Professor, Julienne Meyer, facilitated the morning session, encouraging groups to discuss what is currently working well locally and what could be done better. There was great energy in the room with lots of discussion generated between groups.

During the afternoon Dr Jay Banerjee, an emergency medicine consultant based at University Hospitals of Leicester, provided training on PDSA cycles (Plan – Do – Study – Act) and how to take forward quality improvement using this methodology.

Since the collaborative meeting PEACH has been providing support to each collaborative group in developing and moving forward their ideas for quality improvement, with Dr Banerjee continuing his excellent work providing additional coaching to facilitate the groups to begin the process of implementing their service improvements.

Recruitment Update:

Our research team working on the resident outcome package, have been busy meeting with care home managers in preparation to recruit residents in the new year. Currently they have been able to recruit 12 Care Homes in the 乐播传媒 West area and 8 in the 乐播传媒 North and East area.

In the new year the team will be visiting the care home to talk to the residents about their involvement in the study, and hope to begin the resident recruitment soon after.

The PEACH project is hosted by the 乐播传媒 and has been funded by the Dunhill Medical Trust. We are evaluating whether comprehensive geriatric assessment can be implemented in care homes across South 乐播传媒shire.
