Current Research

The research focuses on improving locomotive fleet management by developing a predictive modelling framework to evaluate the effectiveness of alternative maintenance strategies. Railway fleet management is a highly complex system in which maintaining high operational productivity requires innovative and data-driven approaches.

The proposed model will represent the operational and maintenance dynamics of a fleet of trains operating on a railway network and will be used to assess the impact of different maintenance policies on system performance. The predictions will explicitly incorporate real-world constraints, including financial budgets, maintenance capacity, and equipment availability, with the objective of optimising service reliability, availability, and cost efficiency.
