Research Centres

The School of Geography co-hosts two centres dedicated to furthering research and developing understanding in critically important areas impacting on individuals, organisations and society in general.

The school has particular research strengths in the environment, geospatial science and economic and human geography.

 

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ NGI ia a leading cross-disciplinary research institute specialising in the areas of:

  • Semantics
  • Satellite navigation
  • Photogrammetry
  • Remote sensing
  • Sensor integration

NGI is based in campuses in both ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and China.

 

The Centre for Environmental Geochemistry combines the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½'s and the British Geological Survey's strengths, focusing on the use of geochemistry in research, training and teaching around reconstructing past environmental and climate change, biogeochemical cycling including pollution typing/provenance and the use of geochemical tools for research into the subsurface.
