Undergraduate peer mentoring (new students)
Before you arrive, you will be assigned a mentor. The mentors are mainly second year students with some senior mentors from the third year.
All new first years are assigned a computer science mentor, and the team are there to help you transition into university life, as well as studying in computer science. They have just finished their first year and were in your shoes this time last summer.
Mentors can share their experiences and answer questions before you arrive in ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and will be here to meet you during Welcome Week.
The Undergraduate Mentoring scheme will be managed by one of our academic staff, Daniel Karapetyan
As well as meeting them on Discord before you arrive, you will have regular timetabled sessions with your mentors throughout the first semester. These sessions are for you to get tips and for them to share experiences such as how to study key first year topics, help you access the right advice, and provide you with academic support.
"The mentor scheme brings together students from different backgrounds across all years of study to create a safe environment where new starters can get advice from students who have been in their shoes, and make friends before they arrive to help them feel at home as they move to university."
- Aidan Dagnall, Senior Mentor, MSci Hons Computer Science
