About the Students' Union (SU)
They are an independent, student-led organisation that represents your needs, protects your rights and, when it comes to making important decisions that affect you, makes sure your voice is heard. As a ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ student, you're already a valued and celebrated member of the SU.
From its home in the Portland Building on University Park campus, the SU works hard to make sure your university experience is the best it can be, from the day you arrive to the day you graduate.
They're here to make sure that you can experience a huge range of social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities, make changes by standing up for what you believe in, and find support when you need a helping hand.
Societies - get involved, have fun
You can join any of the SU's diverse and vibrant societies. With over 300 student groups and more than 75 sports clubs, you can pursue your current passion or hobby, find a society or organisation specific to your degree or even try something new. You might even want to start your own society!
Immerse yourself in a vibrant legal community through a wide range of award-winning societies. Explore your passions for law and build lasting connections by joining the Law Society, BAR Society, Pro-Bono Society, Mooting Society, Lawyers Without Borders, or Women in Law.
Become a course rep and get your voice heard
Course reps are an essential part of the student voice. They put themselves forward to represent the views of the student cohort on issues surrounding their academic experience. Through gathering feedback from your peers, sitting in key meetings and by lobbying or campaigning for positive change, you can make a real difference to the academic experience of those on your course and in the school, as well as for future students.
Course reps gather and provide feedback for termly meetings called Student-Staff Forums (SSFs) where they can discuss concerns and issues, or provide positive feedback. These exchanges allow the student reps and staff to work collaboratively to enact positive change.
